Connected Universal Experiences Labs is officially established and begins operations

After nearly two years of preliminary preparations and continuous construction, Kali (hereinafter referred to as the “center”) of the Internet of Intelligence Lab officially announced its establishment on August 14, 2019, and held a grand celebration ceremony. This is a milestone that China and Latin American science and technology workers have worked together to achieve, marking that the good work foundation laid before will contribute to international changeable cooperation in a new way of technology service platform.

The preparation work for the center began in 2018. In October of that year, at the ChinaVR/ICVRV conference held in Qingdao, China, eighteen institutions became the first batch of “Virtual Reality and Visualization Technology International Cooperation and Innovation Center” (referred to as “International Cooperation Center”) ). Six universities in Colombia are recognized as “international cooperation centers”: Isis University, Santiago Cali University, Andean University, Western Autonomous University, University of Antigua and Asia, and Cauca University. Since five of the Colombian universities are located in the Cauca Valley Province, and the University of San Diego Cali is the 2019-2020 rotating institution of the Kauka University Innovation Network (RUPIV), the representatives of the six Columbia universities agreed to integrate the centers in Colombia, relying on Santiago Lee University established the “Intelligent Network Interconnection Lab Cali”. The Chinese main construction party of the center is the State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems (Academic) and Tianjin Jincai Wulian Technology Co., Ltd. (Enterprise). Before the completion of the new center in Latin America, Calicom, as a Latin American cooperation hub for next-generation information technology including virtual reality and visualization technology, will undertake the multilateral exchange of technology with the entire Latin American region.

The celebration ceremony for the establishment of the center was merged with the opening ceremony of the “Belt and Road New Generation Information Technology Summit Forum and Summer School” (BRISEIT 2019). First Secretary of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Orlando Alfonso Gult Diaz, President of Santiago Cali University Carlos Andres Perez Guerando, and from Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile Representatives from 17 universities in Latin America, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico and more than 30 distinguished guests from the government, business and social organizations, as well as hundreds of teachers and students attended the ceremony. The congratulatory letter was sent by the governor of the Cauca Valley Province, Mrs. Sylvia Kristina Konstanz Rigifu, and the mayor of Cali, Maurice Amitqi. Ms. Zhu Xiaoyan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Colombia, delivered a video speech. Before the establishment ceremony, the preparatory team of the center visited the Chinese Embassy in Colombia. Agent Xu Wei and Cultural Counselor Zhu Xiaoyan received the team, introduced the relevant situation of culture, education and science and technology in Colombia, expressed their support and encouragement to the establishment of the center, and wished the work of the center a smooth and successful progress.

The President of Santiago Cali University, Carlos Andres Perez Gallando, the co-director of the center, Dr. Claudia Zunigo, and the co-director of the center, Dr. Luo Xun, were then jointly witnessed by the guests. The center office venue cut the ribbon and planted a memorial tree. After that, the center will hold related celebrations around the anniversary of its establishment every year.
