Ms. Roldan, Governor of Cauca Valley Province, met with the executive team of the center
The Cauca Valley Province is Colombia’s third-largest province in terms of GDP. It is located on the Pacific coast and has the busiest trading port in the country, Bueno Ventura Port, which is of great significance in President Duke’s national strategy of “facing the Pacific”. Since the establishment of the center in August 2019, it has been supported and followed by the Kauka Valley Provincial Government. On February 13, 2020, Dr. Claudia Zunigo, Co-Director of the Center, Dr. Luo Xun, Co-Director of the Center, and Oscar Canyego Gomos, Vice President of the University of Santiago Cali, visited the Cauca Valley. The provincial government was received by the governor, Ms. Clara Ruth Roldan.
Ms. Roldan said that as an important Pacific coast province in Colombia, Cauca Valley attaches importance to cooperation facing the Pacific Ocean, especially scientific and technological cooperation. Cali has now become an important information technology industry center in Colombia. It is hoped that the center will play a further role in promoting technology and personnel training.
The executive team of the center reported on the work progress in the past six months and thanked Ms. Roldan for her support and encouragement. After the work meeting, the two parties exchanged souvenirs with each other. The center presented a pair of Chinese calligraphy works titled “Lingyun” to Ms. Roldan, which showed the center’s vision to promote the construction of a community of destiny in science and technology. Ms. Roldan gave back to the center the traditional festival introduction album of Cauca Valley Province, and hopes that the members of the Center from outside Colombia will have a deeper understanding of the cultural heritage of Columbia and Cauca Valley Province.
