The center co-organizes the online forum "Sword of Damocles, Pandora's Box-How Does Privacy Law Impact the Digital World?"

How do privacy laws impact the digital world? On August 23, the Shenzhen Computer Society of China (SZCCF), jointly organized by the Hong Kong Internet Professional Association (iProA) and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Technology Alliance, and co-organized by the Smart Internet Lab Cali (hereinafter referred to as the Center) Sword of Damocles, Pandora’s Box-How do privacy laws impact the digital world? “The online forum was successfully held. This forum was hosted by Yan Lijuan, Director of Public Relations of the Center. Professor Zhao Jianliang of the School of Economics and Management of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Zhang Kaixiang, Chief Architect of WeBank Blockchain, and Li Xichen, Associate Professor of Law at Xihua University gave special reports. Andres Navarro Newball, the academic committee member of the center and a professor at the University of Javiana, participated in this event as a special guest.

In the roundtable discussion session, the host and other guests focused on how government departments and enterprises use blockchain technology to solve data supervision and privacy protection issues, how to confirm data rights? Where is the boundary of data usage at home and abroad? How does blockchain technology achieve data privacy protection and balance of rights? And other issues have been discussed extensively. During the discussion, Professor Newball shared Colombia’s laws and regulations on data security and privacy protection, as well as several typical cases, and emphasized Colombia’s importance to its citizens’ personal data rights.

This forum is a technical and legal exchange seminar focusing on data regulation and privacy protection, with strong professionalism and novel content, which is conducive to promoting cross-disciplinary and cross-industry exchanges under the support of science and technology between China and Colombia.
