Two remote lectures were held to kick off the VII International Robotics Competition at the Universidad Santiago de Cali. The lectures were given by international speakers, Professor Junfeng Yao from the School of Information, Film School and the Artificial Intelligence Institute of Xiamen University in China. And computer scientist, roboticist and Artificial Intelligence researcher, Maja Mataric.
Remote lecture by Professor Junfeng Yao.
The lecture that opened this international competition was that of Professor Junfeng Yao, with his talk on “Puppet Show Robot”.
The implementation of robots in human activities such as art.
Professor Junfeng Yao shared his experience and that of his team in working with robots and the integration of artificial intelligence in the artistic area, in the creation of shows with puppets. A work with great technological and creative innovations.
A future of therapeutic robotics.
Scientist Maja Mataric continued, with her talk on “Robots that care: social care robotics and the future of work and care”.
Therapy robots for children with autism.
Scientist Maja Mataric’s work with robots is done as therapy support, so that children with autism can learn to share. These robots have the ability to perform group interactions, hold a conversation and perform human tasks.
The work done by these two speakers shows how to include robotic technology in everyday life from different fields.
