Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 40 years ago, bilateral scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation have deepened. The “Information Exhibition Panel Project of South American Countries” launched by the Center in July 2021 will promote exchanges and cooperation between Latin American countries in the fields of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, cloud computing, big data, 5G and other fields. In 2022, the two countries successfully held a series of lectures on the next generation of information technology. From e-commerce to online education, from entertainment audio and video to environmental protection, from banking to artificial intelligence, from network infrastructure to database, cloud technology has been widely used in people’s production and life. Since the introduction of Chinese cloud technology represented by Huawei Cloud into the Latin American market, it has greatly promoted information interconnection among Latin American countries and contributed to technological innovation in Latin America.

On behalf of the Chinese Computer Society, Professor Luo Xun demonstrated to the participants the representative achievements of 17 Colombian universities in campus interaction, smart city planning, digital agriculture and other fields by applying the 3D scene digital modeling technology of China’s National Key Research and Development Program.

President Andres thanked the Chinese side for establishing the advanced information technology laboratory at the University of Santiago de Cali, which gives Colombian scholars and researchers the opportunity to learn cutting-edge technology and development experience from their Chinese counterparts. As early as in the National Education Decade Plan 2016-2026, Colombia has put forward the ambitious goal that “Colombia will become the most educated country in Latin America by 2026”. The New Generation of Information Technology Cooperation Forum between China and Colombia and the joining of more famous Chinese universities will surely help achieve this goal at an early date.

The joint laboratory of China-Colombia Intelligence Network is a cradle for cultivating a new generation of talents of the two countries with global vision, international vision and multi-culture.
