On Friday, May 10, 2024, Universidad Santiago de Cali received the visit of Dr. Walter Tapiero, Project Manager of NADIR Ingeniería SAS.
Dr. Walter met with the director of the specialization in drones Diego Fernando Cabezas and with the director of the specialization in Geographic Information Systems Ana Belly Escalante, from the Faculty of Engineering, initiating the planning of new projects together.
Dr. Walter conducted a technical workshop to introduce the process of installation and management of SuperMap software, used for Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
This workshop was held in the COMBA Laboratory, where the technology and engineering students had the opportunity to expand their knowledge in the use of the software.
The most exciting thing for the students was to discover how they can export their projects and use GIS in other tools such as Unity. The possibility of creating their own virtual worlds for video games filled them with excitement and creativity. The idea of being able to integrate geospatial information into virtual environments opens up a world of possibilities for their professional and personal development.
With SuperMap, the students of the COMBA research group have the possibility of converting a simple 2D plan into an amazing 3D model. The software’s ability to capture the measurements of any facility, from the height of a building, the distance between points or the area of a specific territory is highlighted.
