The growing Chinese economy has acquired a leading role in world trade, generating repercussions on the global economy and, of course, also on the economies of Latin American countries, where in turn the Colombian economy presented an expansion of 3,3%, the fastest among the main Latin American economies.

In this same year, Chinese companies have committed billions in Colombia, winning bids to build the first Bogotá metro line and a regional railway line, becoming into one of the most important projects for the Colombian capital and a strengthening of bilateral relations between Colombia and China, which in the present year 2020 commemorates four decades.

Diplomatic relations between Colombia and the People’s Republic of China began on February 7, 1980 with the recognition of Colombia to the government of Beijing as the only and legitimate legal government of the People’s Republic of China, in 2019 Bilateral relations between China and Colombia reached a peak, with a record of US $ 15,000 million in international trade and in the middle of this year (2020), despite the decline in the pandemic, it is above US $ 5,000 million. Likewise, exchanges between Colombia and China are more and more frequent and the visits to China of important State officials as well as personalities from the Colombian political, economic, commercial, military, educational and cultural fields, among others, stand out, which strengthens relations bilateral not only at the government level but also at the business and academic level.
