At present, Mexico is China’s second largest trading partner in Latin America, and China is Mexico’s second largest trading partner in the world. According to Chinese statistics, the bilateral trade volume between China and Mexico reached a new record high of 86.6 billion US dollars in 2021, up 41.9% year on year, much higher than the overall growth rate of China’s foreign trade in the same period. In terms of investment, Mexico is an important market and investment destination for China in Latin America. The two sides have made smooth progress in cooperation in transportation infrastructure, processing and manufacturing, telecommunications, traditional energy and clean energy.
In his speech, Zhu Qingqiao said that over the past half century, the political mutual trust between the two countries has been continuously deepened, especially since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership in 2013, and the development of bilateral relations has entered a fast lane. In the port of Buenaventura, an important container port in Colombia, the China-Colombia Internet Connectivity Laboratory has used digital simulation technology to help upgrade the port, including waterway dredging, and plan the construction of a new port. Researchers in the laboratory assisted Colombia to use unmanned aerial vehicles to observe the Crab Island where the new wharf is located at the port site. They also applied the “intelligent and efficient scene modeling and rendering engine” and other technologies from China into the ground, established three-dimensional models of the existing wharf and the new wharf, and made simulation planning for multiple channel dredging schemes.
