The summer school "Cloud Workshop" is coming soon, opening up global high-quality education resource sharing

Among them, the 6th Computing Vision Summer School “Cloud Workshop” organized by the Smart Internet Lab Kali (hereinafter referred to as the Center) assisted by Shandong University has attracted the attention of students from all over the world, especially in Latin America. Dr. Claudia Zuniga, the co-director of the center, said, “As of now, more than 40 universities in Latin America have responded to this event, with more than 1,000 news followers registered and more than 30 group registrations. , Far beyond our plan.”

Expanding the supply of international public products for education and deepening cooperation with important international organizations are important policies announced by the Ministry of Education and other departments of China in June 2020. As a well-known university in the “985” category (excellent level) in China, the Interdisciplinary Research Center of Shandong University has finally selected the Wi-Fi Internet Lab Kali as the only partner in the world after several inspections to jointly launch an online summer school starting this year. The event invited experts and scholars from Peking University in China, Tel Aviv University in Israel, and University of Stuttgart in Germany to lead students from China, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil and other countries to participate in the “Cloud Workshop”. Professor Veronica Teichrieb from the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil said: “This summer school is a brand new attempt for students. During the epidemic prevention and control period, they can stay home. It is safe and convenient to learn the latest international computer vision, virtual reality, 3D printing and other advanced technologies, and you can also travel around China to experience culture.” It is understood that on the basis of online teaching in this summer school, an online programming link has been added. After the course is over, students can virtualize the scenes and objects around them, which is extremely maneuverable. “In the future, we will consider adding this new way of teaching in our daily teaching,” said Professor Tihirib.

Smart Internet Lab Kali was established in August 2019. In less than a year, it has established a very strong influence in Latin America. Maintain good cooperative relations with local governments and universities in Colombia, Brazil and other countries. During the planning stage of the event, the center issued invitations to cooperative universities, and universities such as the University of Cali, Santiago de Colombia, the Catholic University of Javiana, and the University of Andes responded positively. The center has dedicated personnel to consult and matchmaking activities, and a total of more than 200 responses through messages and emails. Professor Tu Changhe, Executive Deputy Dean of the School of Computer Science of Shandong University, said, “This is the first time that we have carried out student recruitment activities in Latin America through our partners.
