On December 20, 2021, the Cloud signing ceremony of strategic cooperation agreement between China-Colombia Smart Internet Connectivity Lab and four Chinese universities was successfully held at the main venue of the University of Cali in Santiago, Colombia and several sub-venues in China. The second China-Colombia Forum on New Generation Information Technology Cooperation was held at the same time. Ambassador Monsalvi of Colombia, Cultural Counselor Zhu Xiaoyan of the Chinese Embassy in Colombia, Professor Luo Xun of the Chinese Computer Society, Professor Qi Yue of the State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems, and President Carlos Andres Perez of the University of Cali in Santiago, Colombia Galindo), Mu Zhifei, Dean of International School of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Feng Yong, Dean of School of Modern Music of Xi ‘an Conservatory of Music, Xie Xiaolan, Dean of School of Information Science and Engineering of Guilin University of Technology, Zhang Kelliang, dean of School of Animation of Hainan Institute of Software Technology and more than 30 other guests attended the signing ceremony and forum activities. More than 1,500 Chinese and Colombian scholars attended the event.
Monsalve said in his speech that China is a global power in science, technology and economy and has contributed more to world growth than any other country for 15 years in a row. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 41 years ago, scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and Costa Rica have deepened. It is believed that this signing ceremony and the forum will further promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Colombia in the fields of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, cloud computing, big data and 5G. I wish the series of lectures on the new generation of information technology “Smart Internet Connectivity” between the two countries a success in 2022.
Zhu Xiaoyan extended warm congratulations to the Forum on behalf of Chinese Ambassador to Colombia LAN Tiger. She said, in the virtual reality technology and system of state key laboratory and the university of San Diego, Cali, driven by the elder brother of intelligence network interconnection laboratory set up 3 years, with nearly 20 colleges and universities in China, 17 colleges and universities in Colombia in academic research, science and technology innovation, technology application, training in areas such as success has carried out several projects cooperation, has achieved fruitful results. The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) is a leading art school in China. It has launched cooperation programs with Colombian counterparts in the fields of virtual reality, digital art, artificial intelligence and fine art creation. Xi ‘an Conservatory of Music is one of the 11 independent music colleges and universities in China. Its “Art and Technology” discipline team has made use of virtual reality and simulation technology to produce a teaching and training platform for Chinese and Latin music, which has been widely used in many universities in Colombia. Guilin University of Technology has made remarkable achievements in the fields of computer science and technology and artificial intelligence, which has provided strong support for the cross-cultural communication between teachers and students of China and Colombia. Hainan Institute of Software Technology and University of Santiago Cali jointly set up the teaching point of the doctoral program in China. The successful signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between China’s four institutions of higher learning and the China-Colombia Internet Connectivity Laboratory will contribute more to the in-depth cooperation between China and Colombia in culture, art, scientific and technological innovation, artificial intelligence and other fields, as well as the exchange and training of talents in the post-COVID-19 era.
Luo Xun, on behalf of the China Computer Society, presented to the participants the representative achievements of 17 Colombian universities in the fields of campus interaction, smart city planning and digital agriculture by applying the 3D scene digital modeling technology of China’s national key research and development plan.
Four deans, Feng Yong, Mo Zhifei, Xie Xiaolan and Zhang Keliang, delivered wonderful speeches entitled “Music Virtual Simulation for Digital Silk Road”, “International Talent Training for Virtual Reality”, “Cooperation on Mutual Learning of Artificial Intelligence Teaching Experience between China and Colombia” and “Deepening China-Latin America Digital Creative Cooperation” respectively. The four universities will continue to leverage their strengths and make new contributions to the cultural and people-to-people cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture, education, science and technology.
The event was organized by the Chinese Computer Society and co-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems and the University of Cali in Santiago, Colombia. The China-Colombia New Generation Information Technology Cooperation Forum, established in 2019, aims to promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of digital technology between China and Colombia, and promote the transformation of achievements and practical application of digital technology between the two countries. The first forum was held in Cali, the third largest city of Colombia, with more than 300 participants from China, Colombia and other Latin American countries.
